Instead of showing the publish desktop background, it's showing the ThinOS background instead. They changed Seamless Window Mode between 8.x and 9.x and the new version is really annoying. In a Citrix published desktop, I got Zoom, and Teams HDX offloading working. Logitech webcam passthrough worked out of the box.

I was able to upgrade a 3040 directly from 8.6 to 9.1. So I've been doing some thin client testing. Also, in the latest WMS they said you could do a group change in 8.6 at next reboot instead of it just taking off, I couldn't find it and I opened a case to ask, it's been escalated because TS didn't know either.įinally: A new 9.1 code is being released next week I'm being told. So I'm still struggling and mostly with support because 'pro support' is not quite there yet.

I did get teams video going okay but that was when I switched my backend over to horizon (a much better product than XD IMHO).

5070 did better but GPUs are your best option. The 3040s will not work with that ATOM proc.

For Telehealth, well i'm not that far yet.

Cloud WMS seems to not exhibit this problem. I don't have 5000 hours to touch all devices so this is my current showstopper.

WIFI, I cannot seem to get the profiles to push from WMS into the device, they show up but nothing happens, until you manually tinker with anything then you have full control from WMS.

Opened a case but frankly everything needs escalation and therefore I found my upgrade path to be a lot more consistent.

Going straight 8.6 to 9.1 would break my mouse and keyboard.

I was able to get through the upgrade by going 8.6 > 9.0 > 9.1. You can get a lot more horsepower and flexibility with this for a bit more (~20% over the best basic 5070 config) and you can ditch WMS, linux end points etc. More and more people are ditching this for something like a locked down Windows mini-PC joined to Azure AD and managed with Intune. WMS is great for managing the remote devices but has been buggy, and again you are basically limited with the Linux end point. taking off, the endpoints need to keep changing and Teams is extremely heavy on the devices. Given time it will work out but with Teams, Zoom, Jabber etc.

They have had major issues with the code (I think basically driver issues), as well as lots of issues in Citrix's release of Workspace due to its rushed nature to get Teams offloading working.

This was moving way too slow so ThinOS 9 was a full code rewrite using a newer Ubuntu install (I believe) and the CR Branch Linux Receiver package right from Citrix. ThinOS 8 and prior is Ubuntu + a customized version of the LTSR Receiver (modified by Dell). Being Linux based they are also the last to get updates, features etc. Thin devices are great if nothing is changing, however the rate of change these days is too fast for them.
